Residents and those working in the Park Royal area who feel there are not enough police around and that local crime and anti-social behaviour is increasing, are set to have their concerns addressed with a new initiative.

Ealing Police and Ealing Council are promising better safety in Park Royal following the expansion of the Safer Neighbourhood scheme.

Among issues Safer Neighbourhood deals with are graffiti, noisy neighbours, drunks and vandalism.

Currently only eight out of a total of 23 electoral wards in Ealing have the scheme which is part of a London-wide police initiative to reduce crime.

The remaining 15 wards will be rolling out with four staff in each ward growing to six by the end of the year.

"Residents from across the borough have told us that Safer Neighbourhoods is what they want," said Ealing police commander Colette Paul. "They know it will make a real difference to their lives and we are fully committed to make this happen."

"The new teams have a massive challenge ahead but we are fully confident they will meet the hopes and expectations of residents in their wards. Ealing Council will do all it can to support the police teams in their fight against crime," added Ealing Council chief executive Darra Singh.
