Bus depot decision

Park Royal residents could be waiting until the summer to find out if the council finally throws out plans by Transport for London to build a bus depot at Gypsy Corner. A bitter battle in 2004 between locals and TfL saw the council initially rejecting the proposal which could hold up to 50 buses. Protestors claimed it would damage the area with noise, extra traffic and fear the storage of fuel could be dangerous. TfL then appealed against the decision and now the councils planning inspector David Cullingford is looking into the proposal and to make a final decision over the next few weeks. Local Labour MP Andrew Slaughter has joined with residents in protesting against the depot and residents are confident they depot won't get the go ahead. "People who are waiting to move to the area are waiting on this result," local resident Sheela Selavajothy told the Ealing Gazette. "But it won't go through, we have tremendous support." A spokesman for TfL told Park Royal Online that while its appeal is going through, it doesn't have anything else to say about the depot. Related links: Transport for London
